Coast Live Project : Research-Color Inspiration

Our initial project inspiration comes from Impressionism.Looking into the works of giants like 

Monet  we can draw massive inspiration for the color board , color associations and tonalities.

     Searching for Color Inspiration :Case study The color of the year 2018 Pantone Ultra Violet

     Looking at how the color of the year 2018 influences art and design makes it easier for me to identify next color trend of 2019.

Coast Live Project:Research-Trend Analysis

                      Analysing trends is an important part of the design process , especialy when you are working with a high street company as Coast . Below are a couple of boards I have put together  illustrating Spring/Summer trends of 2018 . I have focused on both macro and micro trends and looked on how coast is using them already in their current collections.

         Looking on catwalk at brands such as Valention and Balenciaga there  are certain elements that remind me of coast . Easier to spot is the resamblance between Valention and Coast . Could Valentino be an influencer for Coast?

Live Project: Coas :Brand Researcht- The Story

I have started my reasearch into the brand early as I didnt want to have to mny things at the end.
Bellow is my first research into Coast
 
Coast is an upper high street fashion clothing brand based in the UK. According to their official Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pg/coaststores/about/?ref=page_internal the brand was founded on 1 January 1996.
    Since then the brand champions the new rules for dressing up. The brand's ethos regards dressing up as something you don't do for that one off special occasion but something to work into your wardrobe whether you’re going to a wedding, birthday party or drinks with friends. Live Project Brief - Coast

                   We have been informed we were going to work with Coast for our Live Project in December , before the holidays, but it wasn't until the last term of university started in March that we got given the actual project brief. The brif is to create an 8 outfits collection for the brand. The most succesful pieces would end up being sold in the Coast store on Oxfor Street in London.
The firts week of the project we have been divided into groups . Coast is a brand that works in Subdivisions. From all the available subcategories my group really wanted to take on The Resort one as it is more playfull and gives you more room to experiment with print designs.
                   We had about one hour to put together a presentation that shows why we are the suitable candidates to take on the resort collection.
                    Our presentatrion wasn't very detailed but we have sold our ideas very well verbally and we got the Resort subcategrory.
                   Given the experience and training I have in public speaking and the input i had in conniving our tutors that our group was suitable for the task , my group gave me the role of  Spokesperson.

Coast Live Project : Learning agreement and Research presention

 In the First two days of the term we have been introduced to the concept of learning agreement and la lecture on how to do research. Having quite an open brief a learning agreement would help us keep on track with the work. For our hand in we need :

•        2000 word report
•        blog
•        group submission of range plan and full presentation design work
•       minimum two piece outfit
•       Personal sketch book and development work
•       Fabric and Print development 
•       Learning Agreement
•       Draper Simulation of at least one garment
•       Digital lay plans and avatar development work.

        

 I am very excited about this new unit and what it has to offer
