Week Six Summary
Week Six is the Coast Presentation Week. We are all in a rush of getting everything done.
I have finalized the print proposal got them ready to print , finished my jumpsuit toile and done the jersey dress for the 8th outfit .
It is a very stressful week , I am stressed and this entire group work situation is the cause. I am doing well but I am struggling with time management because I am doing to much work . There are lots of complicated and tiring jobs that no one wants to do and they all fall on me. At the moment , I have done all the prints for our group , my outfit toil plus another one , called fabric suppliers , calculated costs of fabric , made sure everyone is on track and everyone is doing work and orgnize the presentation . I am not putting together the presentation but I am the one that made lists of contents for it and the one that is left all the time to edit the graphics. I have replaced Color boards , Mood Board , Customer Boards and so on because the old ones were not suitable . It is a lot of work to be done .
I was very excited about this group work situation , but now I m not . For the sake of the final product I have neglected myself quite a lot , I have helped with the design and pattern cutting of two extra outfits that were not mine. I don't think the situation is fair .
During this week I have also UV printed and laser cut leather to use it for embellishing our collection's bags.
The day of the Presentation I was very tired and angry . I have asked one of my team memebers to cut the sample prints and she didn't , so on the morning before the presentation I have sewn the 8th outfit , cut the print samples and scouted models. I have gotten really pissed off at my team mates as they assigned roles on whom is going to talk about what during the presentation without me being there . I am frankly the only person in this group that has an open approach and that listens to everyone and know what everyone is actually doing, therefore the reson why I am doing so many people's work.
The Coast Presentation went well ,the Coast representatives liked our ideas and they loved both of the outfits I have presented and my prints . It was a pleasure to have my effort recognized !!!
They really liked my jumpsuit's leg and the fact that it had an elastic waistband at the back .
They have advised us to reduce our color pallet and stick to a smaller range of prints.
They absolutely loved one of our prints and encouraged us to recolor some in order to fit with that one.
The next day we had tutorials about our toiles . I did not need to change much about mine , just to consider fastenings and trims.
Given that the Print deadline is soon I was concentrated more on recoloring the prints.
Me an one of my team mates recolored the prints , but to do so in time for the print deadline we had to excuse ourselves form the trouser manufacturing workshop.
Also , I needed to go to London to source fabric samples for my team. The main destinations were SOHO and SHEPARD'S BUSH . It was lots of fun and me and the 2 colleagues that came with got some really good fabrics to show to the team
